Colloquium: April 10, 2013
Symmetry, Mass and Gravity
|April 10, 2013 Wednesday||16:00||EE01|
Host: Oğuz Gülseren
ABSTRACT — We will talk about the concept of mass in classical and modern physics in the light of the recent discovery of the Higgs particle. We will explain how unbroken and broken symmetries play role in the kinematical and dynamical definitions of mass and how gravity still refuses to enter the picture.
