Hasan Güçlü
Department of Health Policy and Management, University of Pittsburgh

Date: July 14, 2015 (Tuesday)
Time: 15:40
Place: Physics Seminar Room SA 240

HOST: M. Özgür Oktel

In this talk I will summarize the efforts to model epidemics such as influenza, measles, etc. on social networks. I will start with a mathematical framework based on coupled differential equations so called Susceptible-Infectious-Recovered (SIR) model and then talk about the applications of this framework on ideal and realistic social network models including random networks, power-law networks, and spatial random networks. I will also discuss often-used intervention mechanisms such as vaccination and social distancing.
