The TÜBİTAK National Outstanding Researchers Program (BİDEB 2247-A) has announced its latest grant recipients, and Dr. Onur Tokel of Bilkent University’s Department of Physics, is selected as one of the awardees. The new initiative seeks to identify scientists poised for breakthrough discoveries that address critical gaps in diverse fields. The competitive program is also regarded as the main support mechanism in Turkey to support leading researchers to apply to the European Research Council (ERC) program. Dr. Tokel’s project envisions merging the integrated-photonics technology with the state-of-the-art laser nano-fabrication techniques which he is pioneering, within the technologically important silicon-on-insulator (SOI) platform. The project is envisioned to advance the fundamental physics of nonlinear laser interactions and deliver technological innovations with broad societal and economic impact.
